There are many rules in football. however you only need too know a couple of the main rules to have fun playing, or to understand watching a game. The first rule to know is each team is only alowed 11 players on the field during the game. all 11 people have different possions witch we will talk about later. on either side of the ball their is an offence and a defence. the offence has four tryes to run or tthriught the ball into the endzone, or to get a first down which is every 10 yards and unlockes the offence another four plays. The defence will do anything in their powed to stop the offence from advancing the ball up the 100 yard field. The defence can intercept the ball which is when the Quorter back an, offencive player, throws the ball to a Wide Reciver or a tightend but it is caught by a any defencive player. when the ball is caught by the reciver it is called a reception. when a reception happens the defence will attemt to tackle the ball caryer as fast as possible. if the ball caryer runs out of bounds then the play is over and can no longer get tackled.
If a defender however dose tackle the ball caryer then a flag will be throne. a flag is thrown when a referie see a player not folowing the rules resulting in a penilty. the result of the penilty depends on what rule the player breaks it could be between giving the offence a first down 1-99 yards and much more. A PI is a pass interfiernce penilty usaily caused by the defence when a defender unfairly blockes the recivers ability to catch the football. their are many other penelties some being false start, delay of game, intentional grounging, unnesairy rufness and ruffing the passer all resulthing in negetive yardege between 5-20 for whatever side of the baall the peneltie is on. if both sids of the ball get a peneltie then they are offset with no penelties for either side.
